When I am working on my business I often have this little visual that pops into my head. 

It is of me watering the seeds of a money tree (a tree with money for leaves). As I water it the seeds burst and the money tree grows bigger.

When I work on my business I am giving it all the love, nurturing and elements required for it to grow into a business that can prosper without my constant input. Giving me the profit and free time to do the things I love.

When you work in your business you are NOT growing a money tree...you are getting caught on a treadmill with no scale or leverage to give YOU real profit and free time away from your business.

The moment I meet a business owner who avoids conflict or DEEPLY dislikes challenge and problems, and who desires mostly to be emotionally and physically comfortable - I know it will be hard for them to be successful in entrepreneurial pursuits.

Creating a highly successful business automatically requires you to stop being comfortable in your business, to step into the unknown while you push the boundaries in search of excellence or a successful strategy.

It requires you to set your boundaries about what you expect and want – and you will face conflict.  How you develop and shape your mind to deal with these experiences will help dictate your success in business.

Creating a successful business means working in the unknown. The unknown can be stressful. Meditation is a good way to deal with stresses.

Quick story - How Angela self sabotaged her business success

Angela told me in our initial consultation that she wanted to empower her staff so they could run her business while she was away on holiday.

Little known, self-sabotages to business success

There are many self sabotages to business success but very few people know about them.

The 'invisible' unconscious mind holds forces and beliefs that often undermine even the most switched on of business owner.

As an example I have coached many business owners who say they desire a business that gives them free time and wealth to do what they love.

BUT when I get them close to achieving that TIME FREEDOM and wealth through careful development of their business model and team they sabotage it...and end up working back in their business.

When this happens there is an UNCONSCIOUS sabotaging reason driving them to continue to work.

Tom is a perfect example of a self sabotaging business owner.

Tom grew up in a hard working farming family and unconsciously picked up the belief that valuable people (people worthy of respect, admiration and love) work hard all of the time! This belief embodied the ideals of the 'protestant work ethic' -  NEVER slacken off and always put hard work before having fun.

As a kid Tom would be reprimanded for 'mucking around' and would be put to work. Toms father looked down on people that 'got it easy and didn't work hard'. (He would have hated surfies like I was!!!!!)

Once I got Tom close to being able to exit his business so he could start having fun, doing the things he said he loved, like overseas travel, sailing a yacht, these work ethic beliefs from his child hood came up and smashed him.

He found a way to sabotage his manager so he could end up back in his business - trapped and working hard.

If Tom hadn't sabotaged his freedom, and had lived out his dreams he would have had to learn to overcome the feelings of guilt and low self-esteem that would have arisen in his system. He would have become the very thing his father hated - someone who had it easy and didn't work hard.

Even switched on business people bring 'invisible' unconscious sabotages to some areas of their business - recruitment, marketing, financial management and team building!

The learning here is that you need to 1. Understand your sabotaging beliefs 2. Overcome your sabotaging beliefs before you can have success in business. This must be your priority.

The more wishy washy YOU are about what really matters to you as a business owner - the easier it is to become manipulated by staff.

In a wishy - washy state you're more likely to let go of your expectations and standards, more likely to compromise WHAT YOU REALLY want for your business.

When your disconnected from WHAT you deserve it becomes easier to be 'nice' and friendly to staff, to keep the peace rather that STICK UP For your standards and for what you deserve!!!

Staff pick up on ANY WEAKNESS regarding resolve, self respect and dedication to achieving ones true goals and then the manipulation starts and SOON takes hold in the work place.

Staff might use their friendship to manipulate you.

Staff might use a sob story to manipulate you.

Staff might use aggression or assertiveness to manipulate you.

Staff might use sexual energy to control you (especially if you are a male boss).

Regardless of the strategy they start to get you - AND THEN THEY CONTROL YOUR BUSINESS.

Your bad boy / girl emotional patterns can ruin your business!

Sometimes business owners look at me funny when I start talking about business and emotions (especially if they are male).

In fact I can't think of many more things in life that can bring up as many conflicting emotions as business.  From joy, to anger, to feelings of self doubt, insecurity, passion, connection and prosperity.

Your emotions are deeply connected to how YOU act and behave as a business owner - therefore your emotions are deeply involved in business success or failure.

So why does no one talk about emotions in a business context!!! It boggles me.

We all have moments when the ugly monsters within try and grab us and try and steer the ship! It's how we deal with those emotions in the moment that will dictate our success OR failure long term.

And it's not just the negative emotions we need to beware of. Contrary to some popular teachings - positive thinking can get you into a lot of business trouble when it is used at the wrong time.

Positivity and optimism CAN operate blindly and urge one on in motivational doses inappropriate for the reality of the situation. Sometimes TRUTHFUL negative thinking has it's place in making business decisions.

When I am teaching I talk about the mind, beliefs and emotions at least 50% of the time because getting the mind part right is at least 50% of what is required to win the game of business. The other 50% is just as important - skills, tactics, knowledge and strategies.

Hairdresser who stole cash claims sacking unfair!!!!

Read about this in a newspaper this morning.

Mercer-Black, a hairdresser claimed she was unjustifiably dismissed from Zaibatsu Salon after a discussion where she admitted stealing some money.

Yes the poor girl she should have kept her job AND been given a pay rise!!!!

3 reasons why time is more valuable than money!

Time is more important than money.

To many business owners get fixated on making money now and they use up all their available time making money NOW. Of course they don't realise all this focus on making money NOW can be detrimental to their financial future.

There have been times in my life where I turn down money making NOW so I have free time to to work on business systems that make money without my constant input. During these periods I keep the cash-flow coming in but I use all my extra spare time working on wealth systems.

A business system that can run without my constant input is a business that gives me time freedom AND wealth. The moral of this email is be careful where you spend your time - instant gratification is nice but it should not be at the expense of what you really want to create - which I hope, is more freedom and wealth to do what you love with the people you love.

The real reason most business owners can't create wealth AND time freedom (one without the other is a waste of time)!

The smart educated entrepreneur runs their business like a conductor.

They control, utilise and strategically implement the assets and resources available to them, including capital, knowledge, software, machinery and staff. 

Like the conductor who knows they are not the orchestra, the educated entrepreneur knows they are not the business, or the source of income. They are the ‘director / orchestrator / visionary / leader that utilises the resources to make the income.

I hope you understand the analogy because many unsuccessful business owners try to be the orchestra, the trumpeter, the violinist and the drummer as well as the conductor (how can that ever become a model for success).

In other words they work in their business not on it.

You must become redundant from the day to day workings of your business. How else can you be free to be the entrepreneur who grows a large profitable successful business? How else can you enjoy the benefits of leveraged income (making money while you are on holidays), how else can you build a business you can sell for a lot of money.

Of course to make yourself redundant from the day to day processes of your business, you need to delegate tasks - to delegate tasks you need to employ the best possible people to your team - high performers you can trust to deliver.
