The personality is not one thing.
It is a collection of sub-personalities — separate characters, each with its own beliefs, behaviours and emotional history, each deciding from its own perspective.
The unaware person says: I decided.
A fairly aware person says: part of me wants this, and another part of me wants that.
The very aware person studies each character — what it believes, what it wants, when it takes over, and what it decides while it is in charge.
Because the characters are deciding. One of them sets your prices. One of them chooses your investments. One of them speaks to your partner — and it is not always the one you would have sent.
You did not make your worst decisions. A character made them wearing your name.
The one who can see the characters is not one of the characters. Stand there.
